The CSCS Red Trainee Card is designed for individuals who are registered on a recognised construction qualification or have recently achieved an approved occupation-related, non-competence qualification. It allows trainees to work on construction sites while completing the training or qualification required to obtain a skilled CSCS card. Depending on your qualification, you may be eligible for either a 2-year renewable card or a 5-year non-renewable card.
You must have passed the CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test within the last 2 years before applying.
Book Your CITB TestYou must be registered on a competence-assessed qualification such as an NVQ/SVQ, be studying an approved academic qualification (HNC, HND or Degree) leading to a skilled CSCS card, or have achieved an approved Level 2 (or above) occupation-related non-competence qualification.

Two-Year Trainee Card — Valid for 2 years. Available to individuals who have achieved an approved Level 2 (or higher) occupation-related non-competence qualification within the last 5 years. It can be renewed for a further 3 years by providing evidence that you have enrolled onto an NVQ/SVQ or another approved qualification.
